Managing Finances after graduating from the Hawza
The economic path after the Hawza is not well-defined. Here too a combination of contentment, trust in Allah (awj), confidence in one’s abilities and some ingenuity is required. In most cases a Hawza student has no clear career path laid out for him; he must usually create it.
From what we have observed, the common sources through which Allah (awj) provides halal rizq to an alumnus of the Hawza who is serving Islam are: Gifts received during propagation (tableegh), royalties from writing books, translation fees, teaching fees, and management fees from educational and other projects that benefit the community. Some take up employment as university lecturers, or become employees of organizations such as MIU. Some also enter into selected and respectable business ventures.
